adidas Originals x Jeremy Scott Fall / Winter 2010 Collection

by admin on Sep.06, 2010, under DESIGN, LOOKBOOK/STYLIST, MENS FASHION, OVERACHIEVERS LIFESTYLE, WOMENS FASHION

Adidas definitely made the right choice when they decided to partner up with designer Jeremy Scott for their Originals line because he has single-handedly re-energized the brand.  The value added by Jeremy Scott can be seen through the latest Adidas Originals by Originals Fall/Winter 2010 collection, which consists of many interesting ideas that have become a staple of his own self-titled label. Jeremy takes the winged concept to the next level by attaching wings to hoodies and sweatpants. Other highlight pieces include the penguin tuxedo black tie sneakers, gold cross boots, biker track jacket with a tail, and apparel with various patterns. Do you like the collection? And if so, what item is a must have? Check out more looks below.

Alexis Mabille x Pyrenex Premium pop up shop at Dover Street Market

by admin on Sep.02, 2010, under LOOKBOOK/STYLIST, MENS FASHION, OVERACHIEVERS LIFESTYLE

to coincide with london fashion week, french label “pyrenex premium” will debut in the uk with a 15day pop up shop at london’s uber cool dover street market from 15th to 30th september. the young but very talented french couturier alexis mabille conjured up a series of ultra lightweight but warm, feather filled coats, vests and biker jackets.

the fit, cuts and colors really do make me look at feather down jackets in a different light. i tend to avoid puffy down jackets, but i find myself really wanting some of the pieces below. practical yet stylish, i find this to be a very good partnership/collaboration between mabille and pyrenex. a young talent shaking things up but not losing any of the company’s dna. a perfect fusion of function, performance and a couturier’s style and luxury.

Zara Man vs Balmain Homme: Zara Guilty! ripping off Balmain

by admin on Aug.31, 2010, under LOOKBOOK/STYLIST, MENS FASHION, OVERACHIEVERS LIFESTYLE

left: zara man fall winter 2010 / right: balmain homme fall winter 2010 (last pic from balmain spring summer 2010)

a few thoughts running through my head:

- zara’s lookbook for august seems to be heavily inspired by balmain homme fall winter 2010, clothes and styling.

- strange, and somewhat brave of zara to be inspired by a fashion house with a very niche menswear collection/distribution. or brave of balmain to try and take streetwear upmarket.

- much as i do not agree with the deconstructed style and exorbitant price tags at balmain, the pieces at balmain demonstrated fine detailings: collars carefully slashed, cuffs nicely ribbed, buttons gloriously gold and crested. zara’s versions are decidedly bland though.

- in an era where fashion is fast and clothes are aplenty, i suggest it’s all (balmain) or nothing.

- you might emulate the style but it’s hard to get the feel. i guess people who spend £2,000 upwards on balmain coats should in some aspect love fashion and style, and take care of themselves. so perhaps more of a clotheshorse and less of a victim.

- zara’s online store will be operational on september 2nd across several european countries, UK included. how will it fare?

Evisu and Evisu Genes Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection

by admin on Aug.24, 2010, under MENS FASHION, OVERACHIEVERS LIFESTYLE

For its Autumn/Winter 2010 collection, Evisu presented two collections “denim collection” for men and an other one more focused on sportswear – under the Evisu and new Evisu Genes labels. Remember that at Evisu, each piece is unique. Quality is a catchword in the design collection. We said no more, but we urge you to check out their website from July 15.

EVISU

  • Each unique piece (t-shirts, wovens, knits, jacket, trousers, outwear, hats) incorporates a “Reference” to an iconic era, style or trend.

* Navy Deck Jacket references 1944 WWII Standard Issue Navy Pea-Coat (see “Navy Deck Jacket” image)
* Workwear Shirt references 1929 Workwear Blazer, a uniform of the working man since the Great Depression (see “Workwear Shirt” image)
* Waxed Overcoat references European high-design uniforms, known for their streamlined silhouettes and multifunctional pockets (see “Waxed Overcoat” image)

  • The tonal branding and discrete logo are examples of the brand’s transition.
  • Special care and attention was given to additional detailing, such as the reference to blood types in the clothing tag. It is a nod to the Japanese belief that blood types are indicative of personalities, character and compatibility with others (similar to horoscopes in US).
  • The Evisu line will retail from $195 to $595

EVISU GENES

  • The Evisu genes label offers a more contemporary, fashion forward look for an edgier consumer.
  • T-shirt, wovens, denim and outwear offer innovative designs that can be mixed and matched for a layering effect (see Nagahori/Takaida look)
  • The Evisu Genes collection will be priced at $145 to $295
